Keys to Improve your Golf Putting

Next time when you are on the putting green, just try out these three simple putting drills. These will really help you to become a better putter. Here are those practice drills:

1. Put two tees in the ground, near about 8 to 10 inches behind the ball:

Place a golf ball about 5 to 6 feet from the hole, and then put two tees in the ground (near about 8 to 10 inches behind the ball). Now, place them a little farther apart than the length of your putter head. Don't forget to make sure that they are directly on the target line you intend to putt the ball.

This drill aims to have you swing the putter straight back away from the ball. When you strike tee on your back stroke, definitely your back-swing path is offline. If you swing the putter head back and forth between the tees, you will get to know that the putter is moving along the correct path. This path is important, as it helps start your ball on its intended target line.

2. Hold the finishing of Putting Stroke:

All American golfers should hold the finishing of their putting stroke until they hear the ball falling into the hole. This tip is effective in training your head and body to stay still over a putt, and also helps you to maintain the putter face on line throughout your stroke. Your focus on the follow-through will keep your mind off missing the putt.

3. Practice putting with one head:

A good way to increase feel and improve your distance control is to practice putting with one hand. So, just start by placing a ball 8 to 10 feet from the cup and hit a few putts only with your right hand. Then, repeat the putt just using your left hand. By doing this, you will come to know which hand gives you better control of the putter. Afterwards, start practicing your one-hand drill mostly with the dominate hand.

Following these drills, you can improve your putting in your game. Are you one among an African American golf player? Which methods you use for putting? Share with us.
